Fall Quilt Top

My mother, one of my favorite people on the earth, made the Fall version of Forest Reflections! She has been quilting all of my life and is the person that really kindled my love of quilting. It is such an honor that she said yes to test my first pattern for me.

My mother loves batiks and she jumped at the chance to use them in her quilt. Aren’t they the perfect color way for Fall?

My mom chose beautiful batiks for this quilt. The River Trees made of flying geese pick up the burnt orange found in the cornerstones. The Sky and River colors connect to what they are designed to represent. The Trees stand out as faithful evergreens.

My mother got her Batiks from Miss Good Stitch in Munising, Michigan. If you want to go and see the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula and then hit some local quilt shops there are a few up there! Just let me now and I’ll point you in the right direction!

Quilting

I love that she chose the undulating ripples for her quilt, it is the perfect thing for the river flying geese and really suits the design. It’s always such a pleasure to see a finished quilt and you can see I had help taking this picture. Two of my children held it up so that I could capture it. I’ll be taking some better pictures as well of this beautiful quilt, but I really appreciated their help while the sun was out!

Next, I’ll show you the fabric requirements for this quilt as an early special treat.
I’ll see you Around the Spinney,

<3 Kate
