Stitch School – Warman Cozy

We are so excited to announce a new continual sewing program offered at Warman Cozy quilt shop in Barrington, IL! We will be using curriculum from Sewciety Kids which focuses on teaching students the basics, making fun and creative projects, and building their skills with each new sewing project. They start at Level 1 and have the opportunity to progress all the way up to Level 4. Check out Level 1 projects here:

You’ll notice that each unit in Level 1 includes a fun, practical project for home or school and then a garment. That is one reason why we chose to use this program because I know so many kids and teens who want to learn how to sew both types of projects and this will give them the opportunity!

Stitch School at Warman Cozy:

Classes are grouped into sessions. During each class they progress through the series of unit projects in their Level, being able to complete 2-3 projects during a session (6 weeks).

Each student needs to purchase one of our basic sewing kits when enrolling in their first Session.  This will be held at Warman Cozy for them with any project items while they are still in progress.  As soon as a student finishes their project, they get to take it home and show it off!

The supplies for each project are not included in the price of the sessions.  When your student is ready to start a new project, they will receive a supply list for the project.  You are able to buy most of the supplies at Warman Cozy and there may be a few items that you need to purchase elsewhere.  Items will be listed that way.

Why is this Sewing Program the way to go?

It simplifies your class registration.  If you have a particularly busy season, you can wait for the next session to come available and your student will pick up with their next project in the progression.  The projects start simple and with each new project, new skills are learned, building on the previous skills.  Our instructor will help keep track of their progress and update it every time they join our sessions and finish their next project.

It also means that your student can work at his or her own pace.  This is really helpful when developing their skills.  The temptation to rush to complete a project doesn’t build a very good foundation.  With the slower pace our kids’ classes provide, their foundation will be set.  They will be able to master basic skills as they continue to learn new skills with each new project.

How to get started:

The first step is to sign up for our Introductory Class. During this two-hour class, students will learn all about their sewing machine and how to set up their machine. Then they will use their new skills to make a drawstring bag from a fabric they choose, which is included in the price of the class.

This is the first step for the classes in our continual kid’s sewing program “Stitch School”. There is a 10 minute student & parent orientation at the end of class where we will tell you how “Stitch School” works and what is needed!

Once your student has attended the Introductory Class:

They are able to sign up for one of our sessions and start from the first project on Level 1! For current sessions check here:

If you do not see an introductory class or current session available, reach out to me and let me know when you’re thinking of signing up! We plan our Introductory Classes every few months to get students ready for our sessions.

Can’t wait to meet you at Stitch School!
