I’m excited to announce my next round of classes for kids in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago! Sewing is something that I started when I was quite young. I want to inspire a new generation of sewists and quilters to experience the beautiful things that they can make and the joy that comes along with it!

If your kiddo is slowing down on school and you are gearing up for summer, these classes will be perfect to give you a little break on Friday mornings and give them some connection and new learning opportunities. Perfect for homeschoolers and those who have Fridays off from school. Friday morning activities are a must when getting ready for the weekend. Parents do not need to remain on site for this class, so you can drop them off and return when it’s time to pick them up.

“Sew Sweet Spaces”

At Warman Cozy in Barrington, IL, I’ll be teaching a series of three classes for 6 students, ages 8 years and older. It will be held on Friday, May 16, 23, and 30 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. These projects are curated for your son or daughter to make their room a little bit cooler and put their personality all over it with things that they actually make!

May 16: Nesting Trays

Students will learn how to quilt their trays, sew a seam all the way around the tray, and pivot at the corners. In addition to those basic skills, learning how to hide the seams and raw edges is critical in finishing sewing projects and we will learn how to do that together.

May 23: Door-Knob Tidy

The door-knob tidy class is designed to help students learn how to use a template when cutting out their own project. We will learn the basics together, sew around the tidy in order to hide the raw edges, and even add a ribbon at the top so that it can be hung from a door knob or a post for a railing or bed.

May 30: 4-Patch Pillow

This class is a great step forward in learning how to piece fabric together like we do when we piece together a quilt! We will make the front and then the back, putting them all together as we stuff our pillow.

My favorite thing about doing this at Warman Cozy is that it is a beautiful quilt shop, full of fun fabrics. Each student will be able to pick out their own fabric for each of their projects, and I will have some ribbons to coordinate! It’s all included in the price of the class, as are the rest of the supplies and tools besides a sewing machine.

If you don’t have a sewing machine, don’t let that stop you. I have some sewing machines for your student to use, so please reach out and let me know! It’s only $5 to rent a machine from me for any of my classes.
