Spring Break Sewing Classes

I’m excited to announce my first round of classes for kids in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago! Sewing is something that I started when I was quite young. I want to inspire a new generation of sewists and quilters to experience the beautiful things that they can make and the joy that comes along with it!

Check out my first round of classes for Spring Break:

At Warman Cozy in Barrington, IL, I’ll be teaching a class for 4 students, ages 8 years and older. We’ll be making a Drawstring Pouch and a Chapstick Holder. There are still spots open for the March 28, 2025 class from 10:30-12:30. Parents do not need to remain on site for this class.

Students will learn how to measure and mark their projects, sew in a straight line and pivot, and add some fun details like a ribbon drawstring and a clip for their chapstick holder. My favorite thing about doing this at Warman Cozy is that it is a beautiful quilt shop, full of fun fabrics. Each student will be able to pick out their own fabric for their drawstring bag and chapstick holder, and I will have some ribbons to coordinate! It’s all included in the price of the class.

If you don’t have a sewing machine, don’t let that stop you. I have some sewing machines for your student to use, so please reach out and let me know! It’s only $5 to rent a machine from me for any of my classes.

At Craft Collective in Palatine, IL, I’ll be kicking off a monthly hand sewing class for 6 students, age 6 and older. It will be held the last Wednesday of each month, after school and through the summer! The first workshop will be March 26, 2025 from 3:30-5 pm.

For March’s project, we’ll be making a handheld Chocolate Bunny stuffy and Carrot!

Students will learn how to handle a needle and thread while sewing eyes and a nose, their bunny’s body, and then stuffing it. We’ll also sew a carrot and a bow for the bunny’s ear or neck. We’ll use a running stitch and a back stitch for this class. All of the supplies are included in the price.

If you would like a link sent to you for the google form, check out my Craft Collective workshops sign up. You’ll see the Hand Sewing (10 minutes). Fill out the form for “an appointment” and I’ll send the link straight to your email. Craft Collective classes require parents to stay on site, but feel free to bring a book or some work to do while you wait or shop around in peace while I keep your kiddo busy!

Reach out if you have any questions and I can’t wait to see you and your students this Spring Break in Barrington or Palatine, Illinois!

Until then, keep creating <3 Kate
